Carisbrooke Shipping is pleased to announce the delivery of MV Greta C, marking an important milestone as the 100th newbuild for the company and the second ship delivered under their current fleet renewal programme.
Following the delivery of Jill C in 2025, Greta C represents the next step in the continued modernisation of the Carisbrooke fleet. The vessel is a 7720 DWT general cargo ship designed for European trading routes and built with a strong focus on operational efficiency, reliability and reduced environmental impact.
Equipped with diesel-electric propulsion and an advanced power management and energy monitoring system, Greta C automatically optimises engine configuration for efficient performance across operating conditions. The vessel is also capable of cold ironing, enabling zero-emission operations while in port.
The new design incorporates several efficiency improvements, including streamlined accommodation to reduce wind resistance and an optimised hull form to improve water flow to and from the propeller. The use of four smaller engines instead of a single large unit contributes to lower underwater radiated noise and supports flexible, efficient power delivery. Together, these features are expected to improve fuel efficiency, reduce maintenance requirements, and increase operational reliability while minimising downtime.
Greta C sails under the Madeira flag and is classed by Bureau Veritas. She will trade primarily within European waters.
Carisbrooke Shipping Ltd is a UK shipowner and family-owned ship management company based in Cowes on the Isle of Wight since 1969. Today, Carisbrooke’s fleet of nearly 20 modern cargo vessels trades internationally, from domestic and short-sea routes around the UK, Mediterranean and Baltic regions to deep-sea passages worldwide.
The delivery of Greta C reflects Carisbrooke Shipping’s continued commitment to investing in efficient, practical, and future-ready vessels that support long-term sustainable operations.
