Value Maritime will provide two 15MW Filtree and carbon capture ready systems to Neptune Lines’ sister Pure Car and Truck Carriers (PCTCs), Neptune Tharros and Neptune Ethos.
Value Maritime is collaborating with Neptune Lines, a member of the Neptune Group of Companies and a leading European short-sea car carrier operator, to retrofit two pure car carrier vessels with its Filtree solution – an emission-reducing SOx scrubber that is carbon capture ready.
First installation in PCTC segment
This will be the first installation of Value Maritime’s technology on pure car carrier vessels, with units fitted on Neptune Tharros and Neptune Ethos, each with a 4,700 RT capacity.
The Filtree system is built around a patented technology that maximises exhaust gas cleaning performance while minimising footprint through its compact design. The system meets the 98% SOx removal requirement for operation in SECA areas and achieves particulate matter removal efficiencies of 90% for PM2.5 and 99% for PM10. In addition, the design is future-proof, enabling easy upgradability to carbon capture capabilities, with onboard space reserved for the integration of Value Maritime’s Carbon Capture Duct.
Neptune Lines has selected the next generation 15MW configuration, with installations planned for summer 2026 in the Mediterranean. Close collaboration between the two companies will ensure a seamless retrofit process.
Maarten Lodewijks, Co-Founder & Director - Value Maritime commented, “Just like Neptune Lines, we are passionate about making a positive impact. Entering the PCTC market and installing our emission-reducing technology on board these vessels is an exciting step. The more vessel types adopt decarbonisation solutions, the closer we move towards our goal of sustainable shipping. Greece is a market we have been developing for some time, and we are proud to sign this agreement ahead of meeting industry partners at Posidonia in Athens this June.”
Valuable decarbonisation steps
George Kriezis, Technical Director - Neptune Lines said, “Neptune Lines is committed to continuously improving the environmental performance of our fleet. Our goal is the delivery of all cargo in the most cost and carbon-efficient way. Partnering with Value Maritime allows us to implement a practical and future-ready solution that reduces emissions while maintaining operational efficiency. This project marks an important step in our broader decarbonisation strategy.”
