WEC Lines is pleased to announce the introduction of a new crossdocking solution at the C. Steinweg (Süd-West) Terminal in Hamburg.
With this solution, we are further enhancing cargo connectivity between Germany, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and the Canary Islands. Directly linked to WEC Lines’ NWC CAI service, the new crossdocking facility provides customers with a seamless transport solution for cargo moving between Hamburg and key markets across Europe.
Fast, flexible cargo handling
By combining WEC Lines’ shortsea network with flexible inland transport options, customers benefit from efficient and reliable cargo flows throughout Germany and surrounding cross-border regions. The NWC CAI service connects Hamburg with the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and the Canary Islands, creating new opportunities for customers seeking flexible and integrated transport solutions.
The service enables the direct transfer of cargo between containers and conventional trucks, reducing handling times and creating a smooth cargo flow on the terminal yard. This results in shorter lead times, increased flexibility and a cost-efficient alternative to round-trip transport.
Suitable for both palletised and non-palletised cargo, the service also supports sideloading and unloading operations, eliminating the need for ramp facilities and offering greater flexibility for a wide range of cargo types.
In addition to operational efficiencies, the crossdocking solution contributes to more sustainable supply chains through optimised transport flows and reduced CO₂ emissions.
